Saturday, August 15th: 2-5PM
Wednesday, August 19th: 6-9PM
All actors auditions should be 17 years of age minimum and should come prepared with 32 bars of song, sheet music, and a short monologue. Also, be prepared to dance. Rehearsals will be twice-three times a week, evening times. Once the cast is set, rehearsals days will be chosen based on cast schedules of availability. Performance will be in December.
Based loosely on Puccini’s La Boheme, Jonathan Larson’s Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side, …under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical. – See more at: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000281#sthash.pR0KCvIg.dpuf
Saturday, August 15th from 10AM-12PM
Monday, August 17th from 6PM-8PM
Auditions will take place at 1054 Avenue C., Bayonne, NJ 07002
Children ages 7-17 are welcome. All children MUST be able to read as this musical will require a lot of memorization. All rehearsals will take place on Sundays from 3:30-7:30PM (this can be changed if necessary) as our theater likes to have our actors concentrate on academics/other activities during the week whens school is in session.
Actors should come prepared to auditions with 32 bars of song (one verse and one chorus) from musical theater and one 30 second monologue. This show has MANY parts for both males and females. Les Miserables School Edition workshop will begin after Labor Day and our performance will be in December.
In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.
